This is the fifth day of no new hotspot detections on either MODIS or VIIRS I Band. In fact, there are no hotspots on the VIIRS data set, and only one on the MoDIS one, and they time out in 6 days. This doesn’t mean the fire is out, just that it’s at an intensity that neither satellite can see. The firefighters are saying that it is nearly contained, but that it won’t be extinguished until we get some hard rains. Still, this is something to celebrate!
